There is a common saying that, “Your health is your wealth.” This is a truism. Not every health challenge is unexpected, some conditions are self-induced. Many things we experience in life are a product of our investment and are like self-inflicted wounds. Health is a precious possession and needs to be jealously guarded. In this blog we are giving you some snippets on your personal responsibility to keep healthy. A clever elder once said, “Never feel good if you cannot see your feet from a standing position without bending.” The elder’s challenge was to make sure that your belly should not control your movement and ability to reach parts of your body. Today weight control has become a key tenet of health management. There are diverse remedies for interventions to mitigate the weight control challenge. While it is a debatable issue to attribute all weight problems as consequences of eating habits the majority of cases are anchored in eating habits. The suggestion is for you is to make an effort to work on reducing weight to avoid consequences that come with overweight. By the year 2030 the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that globally at least 16 percent of deaths will be linked to smoking. It has been estimated that, on average, adult cigarette smokers die 14 years earlier than non-smokers. Worldwide obesity has more than doubled since 1980. In 2008, 1.5 billion adults, 20 and over, were overweight. More than 500 million—10 percent of the world’s population—were obese. These afflictions could be reduced through taking personal responsibility to manage our health.

Health issues require us to be on alert for potential health related developments on our bodies. You will do yourself a lot of good by remaining sensitive and allowing yourself to be examined to avoid shocks when you get diagnosed when the health conditions are beyond clinical redemption due to negligence. Some people care more about their cars than their bodies. Are you as keen to have your health firing well just like a well maintained car? A car that is well maintained performs well, do you maintain your health like a well serviced car? Maintenance allows any health challenges to be picked up early when the conditions are still treatable. Has it ever occurred to you that you need to be examined regularly so that you are in control of your health.

The Ultimate Call for Good Health

Often your health is indicative of your lifestyle. Therefore, whatever we do we MUST think about the future consequences on our health. There are some good practices to consider regarding one’s health. There are a number of considerations that are presented in the form of questions:

How balanced is your diet?

What are the consequences of your indulgences such as sexual promiscuity; alcoholism; dangerous substances; etc?

How often do you have a medical checkup?

Do you ever bother to learn about good health practices?

How much water do you drink per day to keep hydrated?

We value your thoughts and experiences on health and are happy to hear from you if you find this blog interesting. We also welcome contributions to our blog by those who believe in giving back to the community with ideas on good health and healthcare practices.
